Shelley is a registered nurse providing neurofeedback with Midwest Neurofeedback. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Wyoming. She has had over 30 years of nursing experience in a variety of settings. She has honed her assessment and psychosocial nursing skills through years of direct patient care in various settings; burn center, school nursing, ICU, medical/surgical, public health, emergency department, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and ambulatory care. She has always had an interest in holistic health care and applied it to her nursing in every role throughout her career. She has been an innovator in each setting she worked by developing new programs, bringing existing programs to their highest level and being a creative problem solver. Shelley has a strong belief that each person is an active participant in their wellness and that they are a partner with their health care provider. She helps empower them to be the best self they can be.
Although her interest in holistic and integrative medicine began with her nursing career, her particular interest in neurofeedback began in a college health setting where she saw many students seeking medication for ADHD and mood disorders. Medications prescribed created a host of side effects and did not always improve the student’s outcome. Her interest was furthered when her own son’s recovery from a traumatic brain injury made a dramatic improvement through neurofeedback after 2 years of little or no progress.
Shelley finds joy in facilitating the changes people experience through this non-invasive, self- regulatory therapy.
