Hemoencephalography is a type of neurofeedback that uses blood flow as a feedback mechanism rather than brainwave activity. With HEG, one learns to increase cerebral blood flow to a specified region of the brain, consequently increasing brain activity and performance on tasks involving that region of the brain. Although using a different mechanism of feedback, applications are similar to that of traditional neurofeedback. HEG is an excellent tool for enhancing attention/concentration and executive functioning; once the brain is relatively stable.
